The theme of earth/rocks immediately reminded me of a video I filmed several years ago at a secluded rocky beach in southern Oregon. The beach consisted of one to two inch gray rocks and as each wave receded there was a gentle but forceful knocking sound as the rocks rolled over one another. So I started with that clip and the idea of rocks and movement. In addition, I recorded three new moving rock clips: smooth pebbles sliding into a tall cylindrical glass vase; a sandstone rock gently scraping over a grainy piece of hardwood; a large rock dragged along a wood deck. Using only these rock clips, I edited and manipulated them with various effects and gradually developed the sounds that make up "Tug Motion". It was an evolving process until the piece had a cohesive flow and sense of movement.
