After attending fascinating talk by Nic Collins on handmade electronic music at Uni in 2003, I was inspired to make my own contact mic out of an old guitar cable and a piezzo disc form Maplins. I set about attaching it to everything I could find in an effort to explore resonance and close micing in more detail, a new world of previously obscured sound became available. In this recording I filled up several saucepans with water and attached piezzo discs to them, I fed the results into a line 6 delay modeler and improvised loops on the fly. Mini disc recordings were transferred to tape and lay dormant on a hard drive for two decades. The call out inspired me to revisit these recordings and create a short collage of some of these early experiments.
