The building where I live has a very nice atrium with, for example, a wading pool, some lawn chairs, bean bag games, and grills for cooking. Very few if anyone uses this space.


There are some rocks in a landscaping portion of the atrium space.


I retrieved some irregularly-shaped rocks, 2-3” in size each, from this space, placing them in a grocery bag.


I used my Zoom Recorder to record myself manipulating several rocks at a time digitally.


I loaded these recordings into an audio editor and divided the longer recordings into shorter samples. I added effects such as filters, delay, and pitch shifting to some of these samples.


I loaded the new set of samples into a python sample-sequencing process I coded a few years ago, and chose one of 36 created WAV-file outputs.


Some longer samples, as originally recorded with the Zoom, were effected and dubbed onto the sequenced samples.


The amalgamated sounds were considered a track and optimized for texture and volume.


I call the track, ”Classic Rock Geodesic Freq-Mon Radio”, thinking of the resemblances between fractal rock crystals and the recursive nature of Classic Rock Radio playlists.
