about

I spent the past week in my first ever "staycation" I had to take the week off of work to recover from surgery (nothing serious) and was given strict orders from the doctor to take it easy, no work, no exercise, no heavy lifting. This gave me an incredible amount of space to rest, read up on geology, contemplate the meaning of healing and slowing down in late capitalism, and also record some deeply ambient baritone guitar parts.

I've generally shied away from the more "New Agey" side of ambient in my own music production. Obviously I'm a big fan of that sort of thing, considering that I have released many albums through HT that lean in that direction. I'm fascinated with the idea of sound healing, but don't love all the spiritual trappings of it. I set out to create sound that generally made me feel good, and that felt like they aided in my healing journey, both physical and mental. Its crazy world out there right now, and this album serves as my statement that we all need to carve out time for rest and relaxation.
