When I made this album I was in a transition phase. I had uprooted my life in Maine to go travel. I crisscrossed the U.S. and the caribbean, I hitchhiked, couch surfed and woofed. I got pretty comfortable with this, and brought with me a series of smartphones and digital recorders to document the process. In 2014 I landed in Vermont ready to settle in the east, with a hard drive full of recordings and sketches of new material to record. What I came up with was the mission statement of Subversive Intentions. After years of fucking around I knew for certain what SI was. It was sound collage, musique concrete . . . something like that.
Audio Scrap Booking was meant to be a definitive statement. A definition of what SI was. All things beyond would be something else.
It's ultimately the thing that sent me on the journey to what would become Not The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack to the Anthropocene.
This is a project I spent longer on than any previous SI collage. This was meant to be perfect.
But I wasn't really into mastering. So I never got it to that finished point, that I was entirely happy with.
Fast Forward 8 years, and I've got all the tools I need and I can finally give this album the proper treatment it deserves.
I present to you the final iteration of Audio Scrap Booking.
